Well
it's finally on the newsstands, the August 2007 issue of legendary
Playboy Magazine.
In the back section called "Grapevine"
you will find a photo I made of model
Savannah Costello. It's favorite of mine as well and I was obviously
honored when they contacted me after they'd seen it on a modeling
website where they came upon Savannah's portfolio.
I was also honored in that the original shot
they contacted me about wasn't the one they ultimately chose, as
it happens the editor described the photo,
as we'd gotten a great many from that shoot that fit the description,
I put together a page containing a few dozen from that effort. A
few days later I'd gotten messages which contained comments by the
art director who'd said there were so many great images to choose
from and asked if a different image might be obtained for the issue.
Nice right?
Well in the sample I've posted I can see why
this one fit the need so well, as a designer myself the shot they
finally chose lends well to the page layout, the white areas allowing
an unconventional shape versus so many images that are "so
defined" by backgrounds and borders that make the photo insist
on remaining rectangular.
The shot seems to cover about a third of the
page but then you also see Savannah looming well into half of it
height-wise. I don't care mind you - I'm just glad it's there, far
too many times in the past I've been inline to be published only
to have it fall through at the last minute, so now I always say
thanks, but don't really think about it all too much until I see
it in print with my own two eyes.
I've censored the sample here and am including
some other images from that shoot that fit my criteria for no nudity
on this site. (Click for a larger versions)
